Original WetPack Tests

Over 2 years ago a friend and I decided to try testing some ammo with wet newspapers. I posted a summary on the "other" site back in 2003. Flyer helped me with it and finally learned how to get it to post. The pictures were 'big' then, over 10" wide and were a mess. Those posts have long since been deleted so the only place they can be seen is here. I am reposting them now, reduced in size so they fit better. When I did these I had no intention of ever putting it on an internet site. And only made the display for fun. Anyway, whatever!

It was this first series of tests that got me thinking it might be worthwhile to continue. After comparing the wetpack data with the gelatin data published it did look like the 2 methods had some similarities, penetration being the main difference. What really convinced me was the data Goldenloki had published for the P32 showing many of the JHP rounds failed to expand, which is the same thing I found. A lot of us agreed that FMJ was the best carry round for the P32 after those tests.

And the most convincing piece of evidence (for me!) was from Marshall's stoppingpower site with his Feb 2004 'gello murder' report showing the Corbon 90+p .380 round did not expand in gelatin using a Kel Tec P3AT pistol (but that HydraShok did!!).

Which are the same results byron and I got with our last test!

So now we have three types of hollowpoint expansion/penetration tests to compare on the internet:

...gelatin from various sources, Marshall, Goldenloki, firearmstactical, ammolab, a few others

...water jugs from stevespages.com

...and our own KTRange Articles section for wetpack results.

Thanks to all for putting up with me.
