    WWB 147 gr. JHP

    WWB 147 gr. JHP fired from a Kahr PM9 w/ 3” barrel @ 10’.
4 -1 gallon standard milk jugs filled with water, each @ 5.5” thick.
Lead expansion at the widest point measures 9/16”.
Expansion including jacket measures 13/16”(one crazy petal).
Jacket stayed put and the round looks to have retained all it’s weight

I have reliably and accurately shot 50 rounds of this ammo through
the PM9 and have got to say I’m quite happy with these results.

Thanks for the post and pic, Rubb. I haven't tried 147 gr in my recently acquired CW9, but you now have me wondering if the ballistics would vary between your PM9, with polygonal rifling, and my CW9 with standard rifling. I may have to try and find some WWB 147jhp.

Do you follow the chatter on DC dotcom? There's one guy in particular that has a major personal vendetta against Kahr over his bad expereiences with the PM9, and created quite a stink for a couple of weeks. I think that he, and a couple of others rant every time a poster mentions a Kahr pistol. He started a poll about "worst handguns" and concluded that the most popular guns whose names started with the letter "K" were all crap. The three in particular were Kahr, Kimber and Kel-Tec.... of which I personally have all three. But, he, along with quite a few others, have this idea that a gun should be perfect out of the box without any "break in period" at all.

So far, my CW9 has been totally flawless through nearly five hundred rounds. Tonight my wife conned me into taking her and a couple of young ladies (early 20's) from her Sunday School class to the range. I started the girls out with some lightweight .22 rifle and pistol, then insisted they all shoot the CW9. My wife normally won't shoot anything but her P32, or the .22 pistols as she has very weak wrists, and one of the young ladies had never fired a gun in her life. The other girl had shot before, but had very poor form, no trigger control, and very weak grip. Even with that, the Kahr never faltered one bit.

So, I guess after 500 rounds of mixed bag 115 grain, I should try to step up the heavier bullets. My PF9 just didn't shoot them well so I didn't really consider trying them in the Kahr. If they work for you, I may just have to give them a try.

I’ve heard about the PM9 issues but, I know all guns can have issues.
The good reviews outweigh the bad ten fold.
I’ve had many pistols over time and the only ones I’ve had flawless out of the box are my XD and a CZ75 compact. I had a Ruger P-90 that went back and a Para Ord LDA CCW that went back, I guess Ruger and Para are crap too.

I’ve got 300 total through the PM9 with 2 fail to eject in the first 200.
The 50 WWB were flawless in rapid fire, slow fire, 90 degree left and right angles (one handed gangsta style …reliability testing only)…I’m comfortable with that to CC.
For the size of this gun the lack of recoil is surprising.

IMO the Kahr rides as well as my P3AT which BTW has been flawless for over 1000 rounds.
So according to this guy I’ve got two of the crappy K’s….I bet he’s the type to call a High Point a POS even having never fired one…you’ll have that I guess

I’ve been looking at the Kahr for some time but, didn’t want to shell out the cash.
I sold a shottie I didn’t shoot much to pick up a new CCW and it just so happen I walked into the LGS and the PM9 was on sale @ $570...couldn’t pass it up!!!!

As far as ammo selection, I look online at a lot of testing and the WWB did very well in quite a few test.
Ammo hype IMO is just that…hype…99% rides on shot placement…. again IMO.
Maybe this guy will find me and crack on me for a crappy gun stuffed full of crappy ammo…so be it.

Here are a few of the other tests….. All the best

It's not so much that WWB is crappy ammo, just really really dirty... Like Wolf

I was in my local WM this evening and saw a lone box of Winchester 147gr 9mm JHP "Personal Protection" ammo on the shelf in the ammo case. They were <$21 for 50 rnds so I thought I'd give them a try. I opened the box to make sure all 50 were there and immediately noticed that most of the brass was quite dull and many had splotches of corrosion forming at the base of the case and in the rim groove. It wasn't just a few but way over half of them! I took a few out of the tray for further inspection and quickly decided that they had a definite "2nd rate" look about them. I decided to pass on them and wait to see if the "next" shipment was in the same condition. Has anyone else noticed this in these Winchester cartridges? Does it have any effect on performance? I'm not so sure that these are totally appropriate for a PF-9 but I do have another 9mm that could use them as a PD round. Comment welcome. TG

As long as the corrosion is as you described, they should be fine to shoot. It sounds as though the corrosion isn't bad enough to weaken the case.

However, I would not carry them for defense until firing a few to insure that it isn't due to water damage and that the powder and primers are unaffected.
Self defense is not a part-time job!

Shooting is one of the great joys in life. Pass it on.

I've gotten a number of boxes of Winchester, including some old Ranger T 115 +P+ w/o the nickel plating that were pretty corroded looking. All of it has worked OK, though. I do hear sporadic reports of WWB squib loads but none have related them to corrosion.
