Maybe it will make you feel better but I have a friend in Germany that usually follows my threads here. He's EXTREMELY computer savvy - but ended up getting his machine infected, too!
Knarren und Zigarren!!!
That’s like telling someone that since they might get a girl pregnant and since condoms are always a hassle, they should go gay. From software (who need viruses when your computer will sabotage you straight from the factory?), to hardware (look at a Mac teardown evaluation from any reputable website), to performance (approximately 1/3 to 1/2 the performance-per-cost), to software (1/100th the number of programs, 10 times of which are payware instead of freeware); Macs are nothing but a piece of equipment that entitle their owners to join a cult of others who feel they are better that anyone else. It really is as simple as that, scientology in a piece of electronics.
I always hear PC owners talk bad about Macs, but never hear many mac users talk bad about the platform... It's popular for a reason.
People still buy Windows computers because they're cheap. Some specialty fields require them, but for Joe Public, a Mac will do most anything that needs to be done.
And BTW your first post probably shouldn't be bashing the honest input of a regular, long time member... It's less enforced at this point but the rules advise you to post in the new members forum.
"What guns? I sold them all..."
They are not popular, they account for less than 5% of the market worldwide and are generally seen by the rest of the world as a curious US peculiarity.
People generally do not buy PCs solely because they are cheap, but rather because they are a better value. To think that the billions of PC purchases represent an aberrant statistical phenomena where consumers are incorrectly assigning economic value is quite a stretch.
Posting frequently in a forum does not make one immune from criticism. When I see someone being steered toward what I believe could be a thousand dollar mistake, I interject. It’s nothing personal.
