    New Guy PF9

Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and new to Kel-Tec in general. I've been wanting a PF9 for a few months now for my CCW. I have been carring a Diamondback .380 for about 9 months. Its been an ok gun but I just don't fully trust it not to have any jamming issues if my life or family's life were on the line. I read good reviews about the PF9 and like the idea of moving up to a 9mm. I stopped by a local gun shop this morning and they had one PF9 listed at $280. They offered me what I considered a very fair price for my Diamondback. The PF9 they had was all olive drab, slide and grip. I hadn't seen this variation anywhere online. I have seen the olive drab grip but with the blued or parkerized slide. Has anyone seen this variation of the PF9? Is it an out of the ordinary variation? Also, with it being all olive drab would that make it parkerized as well? Thanks for the help

Welcome from another new member and also a PF9 owner. My local gunshop just received the OD green version about two weeks back. I have the all tan version.

Thanks Warbird. After I posted this I called Kel-Tec customer service. They were extremely helpful and gave me answers to some questions I didn't even realize I had yet. They told me all about the all OD green version as well as the all tan. After speaking to them I was sold. I went back to the gun shop and bought it. After the trade in credit for my diamondback and a military discount it cost me about 50 bucks to move into the PF9. I'm looking forward to going to the range.

Sounds like you got a good deal on a GREAT gun. OBTW I appreciate your service. I have two of them my self, both hard chrome models. One is in OD green the other in black. I've carried a PF-9 in my pocket for years. They have been reliable, easy to clean and a perfect fit for me. If I were you I would do the fluff and buff proceedure out lined in this forum prior to shooting. Its a good way to get familiar with your gun. Pay close attention to the back part of the slide where the rail channel ends. Make sure there are no burrs at the end of the rail that would rub on the frame. I run a tooth pic down the channel and see if it catches on the edge. The whole fluff and buff proceedure should take you about an hour or so. Well worth your time. Congrads on you new baby!

Thanks alot jaxgunslinger. I appreciate the kind words. I did the whole fluff and buff this afternoon then went to the range. I put 150 rounds through my new
PF-9. The only issues I had were 2 FTF's. The first one happened on the 4th round of my first magazine and the second happened on the 5th round of the second magazine. After that not a single issue of any kind. I really enjoyed shooting it. It was much more accurate than I thought it would be and I didn't find it to be too snappy. All in all I couldn't be happier. After I get it fully broken in I plan on this gun being my primary CCW for a long time. I ordered an extra 8 +1 magazine today so all I need now is to find a good holster.

When you do your next cleaning, look for goughed spots on the receiver frame. If you find any deep gouges, look over the slide again for something you might have missed. There shood be a few light rubbing spots on the front and rear ends of the frame. I've found they like plenty of oil or grease on the rails the first couple hundred rounds. Check out the ACE CASE web sight, they have a good deal on the mix and match leather holsters, 2 for under $20 including shiping. Also, I recomend staying away from cheap Russian ammo. I feed all my Kel-tecs Federal 115gr Walmart ammo for the range, and Hornaday 115gr HP's for carry. good luck and enjoy your new baby.
