    Trigger shoe questions?

    Hi all.
I have done the searches and read many different opinions.
What is the current wisdom of installing a trigger shoe.

I know you should probably 'dimple' the trigger for the allen heads
( but what with --a center punch or drill bit?)

Some say glue it on ( jb weld?)?
Is it OK to just buy another trigger in case of disassembly?

    Finally,
which trigger do you all like the smooth or grooved?
    Thanks,
    Dean
    yes!

I would not glue it on in any permanent fashion. You would never be able to remove the fire control group after doing so.

I would find a drill bit that just fits into the holes and use that to dimple the sides of the trigger. With a sharp bit, this can be done by hand with the shoe in place to insure that you get them in the right positions. It won't take much. If you're worried about it coming lose during shooting, you could apply some loc-tite to the threads before inserting the screws.

As to grooved or smooth; I prefer smooth, but it is a matter of choice. Your choice may be different than mine.

    just dimple no glue?

    OK Magman,
    thanks for the reply.
I have read some shooters here said the trigger shoe would work loose.
How many rounds have you used yours with?

i went ahead and got smooth and grooved shoes
so I guess maybe try both.
    yes!

I installed a smooth trigger shoe on mine and it made a tremendous difference in comfort and accuracy.

Be sure to use the loc-tite.
Go ahead. Go ahead, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

I just put the smooth model on mine, but I ground the tip of it back about 3/16" and rounded the corners of the thing. I recolored it with a magic marker (the trigger shoes are aluminum in case anyone didn't know).

It's a great improvement over stock. My only complaint about the pistol was that it pinched my finger and rubbed the bottom of my finger on the trigger guard. This shoe looks to have resolved that complaint although I won't fire the gun again until tomorrow.

Worth every penny of it's $6.95 price.

I also got the mag finger extensions and don't think I like them. Although they do allow for pinkie grip, I find that I had already developed a modified pinkie grip with my pinkie folded/squeezed under the butt of the pistol and doing work.

I used black silicone to give a non-permanent hold to it. I should feel it moving or the screws backing out before I lose it.

    Just my $.02

first i just put it on a little tight it soon started working it self loose

then i put it back on i tightened it so tight the screw made there own little dimples

works . only it makes it as wide as the frame so be carefull when holstering

Mine ripped itself right out of my P-40 trigger while at the range. It actually had small holes (started as dimples) after working loose repeatedly. When it came off the last time it actually shredded the sides of the small holes. I don't use the trigger shoe anymore.

i put a shoe on mine , i glued it , but before that i cut my trigger slot in the frame so the trigger shoe would slide thru the slot. it is a great improvement. get yourself a pinkie ext. for a 12 rd. mag. all from kel-tec., pyper22
