Start with an empty magazine. Use small punch, a ball point pen, or something similar to push in the button on the bottom while carefully sliding the base off. Controlling the spring so it doesn't fly away is sometimes tricky.

Wipe out any crud in the metal body. Use a little silicone to wipe down the follower and spring. Put it back together making sure the spring is positioned to push up on the front of the follower. That's it.
