Question New Hammer won't fit in my P11

I'm in the process of swapping out my old hammer spring with a new one that Keltec sent me which has a new hammer already attached. After having taken the gun apart, it occurred to me that the new hammer has a slightly different shape, and is a bit too wide to fit in the frame. Also, the shape is different in that one side is nearly flat, while the other has a curve to it. For comparison, my old hammer comes to a rectangular point at the top (bottom where spring is attached is rounded). My old one looks more like the one in the parts schematic found on several websites.

My main goal is to swap out the hammer spring, since my older gun has the 10-pounder. While I can simply pop out the roll pin and use my old hammer with the new spring, my concern is that perhaps they sent me parts for another gun by accident. The two springs look similar, though my 10-pounder is a bit longer than the new one.

    Any thoughts?

Any way you can post a picture? It would help ID the part.

. . . And include a small ruler for sizing, please. It does sound like KT may have sent you a PF-9 part by mistake.

It might be wise to attach the pictures (not too large, please) to an email message to be sent to Kel-Tec as well. They should know at a glance and get the correct part off to you quickly, if necessary.

    Hello,
Here is a pic I took of both hammer/spring sets side by side.

Good pictures! There is no doubt that you have received a PF-9 hammer, rather than a P-11 part.

You should not try to use any part of the new assembly in you P-11.

But, I'm sure the support folks will be quick to send you the proper replacement.

    Thank you for the clarification.

By chance do you have a email address for Keltec's customer support? I checked their website, but the 'contact' page does not have an option to attach an image to your message to them.

No such luck, sorry. I has been too long since receiving an email from them. As I recall, they sent me an email confirmation to a submission via the web form. If so, you could reply to it but . . .

It might be easier to look at the parts diagram page in the manual for the PF-9 available at this link: Kel Tec CNC Then, you can tell them the part they sent matches the PF-9 hammer in that manual rather than the hammer pictured on the same page in the P-11 manual . . . which clearly matches your original part. If you are nice about it, they will probably apologize and send out the replacement right away.
