Smith mags won't seat up in P11

Yesterday I traded a P3AT for a very old P11. I thot this would be a good trade for me as I had some old left over Ram line and Smith mags in the war bag. Gun came with one 10 round mag. It is the only one that will seat up and lock in to the gun. None of the Smith or Ram lines will lock in. I always heard they would but they sure won't on this one. What gives do y'all think???

My friend purchased a new P11. I reaserched that S&W 5900 series mags would fit. I talked him into buying a 17 round mag, same size as the 15 round, and the extension sleeve from Kel tec. He got it and is telling me he has to slam it in for it to catch. He is suppose to bring it to me so I can see for myself. Maybe just a rat tail file on the catch hole of the mag?

I never had any problems with Smith factory magazines, but every aftermarket mag I tried, I had to open the magazine catch hole on the magazine with a small file a little at a time until they would seat.

Thanks, guys. I did try slamming them in with no joy. I have been needing some rat tail files for at least a good 30 years now.

I had a S&W KMag that wouldn't work in my P-11 and mods only made it worse. KT CS told me only Smith OEM will work.

These work really well. You may have to file the excess flash marks off the plastic extention just a tad. They fit tight initially but break in quick. Kel-Tec P11 High Capacity Magazine - 15rd 9mm with New Adapter - KeepshootingŪp11 upgrades 007.jpg

I bought 3 of these online. They work great and really help with control because of the extention. Allows me to get 3 fingers on grip. I know that I watched on youtube about them. The guy stated some people may have to file just a little off to get a good seating. Didn't have to for my 3. Very satisfied.
