glad to hear it!
Sounds like what I need. Where can I find it?
BUT...first I want to see a definition on "smileys" because what I am seeing may not be the same thing as I have been reading about.
I have seen pictures of FMJ bullets that were "dented" on the top and HPs that were deformed. A have heard that this happens when the loading ramp comes back against the bullet that is soon to be the top in the stack as the top of the stack is shaved off to go into the chamber.
If this is the case, then thats not what I have. When I remove the magazine after firing ONE round, the round that is top in the magazine is UNMARKED. But the round in the chamber has significant damage on the end of it. This damage is on a lead round nosed bullet, no jacket. The damage consists of a groove, very cleanly formed with sharp edges, about 1/16" deep and about 1/16" wide, across the end of the bullet, offset by about 1/16" to one side of the center. This groove does NOT look like the back of the loading ramp!!!! It occurred AFTER I had been warned about smileys and I was holding the gun with BOTH hands to prevent just that.
I have only fired that ONE round in the pistol since I have owned it. I hesitate to fire more if this is a serious defect.
Since the round in question did chamber properly, I doubt that anything other than degraded performance in the target would be the effect. If so, then I will not worry about it. But the damage on my bullet does not look like any I have seen pictured.
If you are not living on the edge, well then, you are taking up too much space.
Have you checked out this link? Smileys
It covers the topic pretty well. It would be interesting and helpful to see a picture of the damage to your bullet, unless you can pick out an image at this link that matches.
Yes, those were the pictures that made me think what I have are NOT the same. I will post a picture tomorrow.

I will be interested to see your picture. In general, there is no danger to the pistol or shooter unless the bullet is "set back" in the cartridge, raising firing pressures.
Any deformation of the bullet only changes its behavior in flight (not into a boomerang, by the way) or in the case of JHP may reduce the expansion of the round in water, gelatin, or soft tissue.
In fact, only shooting one round makes it possible the bullet was malformed or defective to begin with, so your first trouble shooting (no pun intended) task is to fire more rounds to determine what happens on a consistent basis.

Dont know if this did it or not. I tried to upload 4 pictures.
After taking these pictures I disassembeled the gun for the first time and I think I may have fount the problem. The manual specifically states that when you are disassembling the gun there is the possibility of the ejector falling out. So I was very careful to make sure that NOTHING fell out. But when I got it appart I found NOTHING loose inside. No ejector!!! So aparently the ejector is missing??? Would this even work??? The gun did fire and eject and reload ONE round. I never fired the second round so dont know if it would continue to work or not.
