    P40 Range Day Report

Took my P40 out of the safe today and put 50 rounds down range. Nothing to report, the gun shot all 50 rounds without any problems. Never understood why some people had problems with the P40. I like shooting the P40 over my P11, P3AT, and PF9, but not over my P32.

+1 . . . Admittedly, my Kel-Tec P40 conversion for my P11 is long gone, along with the P11, but it was a great gun. Learned a lot about shooting from it too. It went away after about the 4th or 5th broken ejector. Not hard to change, but a pain for me.

However, I now carry a Kahr PM40. It's a true pocket pistol and a worthy successor to Kel-Tec P40. There's something about pistols that go "BOOM" that I really like.

That's a good thing. I think the reason they kept breaking for me was that we only had one full sized pistol, the P11 that hosted both its own top end and the P40 conversion. It was our primary range toy. We bought ammo by the 1000 round case and shot frequently. It was too much to ask of one gun. Now we have several real range toys.

Keep the Glock. I really like the small size of the PM40 and carry it in place of a P-3AT that has become a safe queen and will probably "go away" soon. But, the Kahr magazines are crap and nobody makes any high quality replacements or replacement parts except for finger rests. Despite being a $600 gun with a great trigger, it would be hard to recommend if you already have, and enjoy shooting, a Kel-Tec P40.
