    carry in chamber

i got the clipdraw for my pf 9 but was wondering if this gun is okay with the clipdraw to carry one in chamber since there would be nothing protecting the trigger or should i get a holster that protects the trigger.

I think it should be in a holster with one in the chamber. Split second decisions don't leave time to rachet the slide and Plaxico Burris can tell you about a gun not being in a holster.

I know there's a zillion KT pistols out there with belt clips, but I just prefer having mine in a nice snug holster, chambered and ready to go. Heck, I even have a couple of buddies that pocket carry their P3AT's and P32's in otherwise empty pockets (with no pocket holster), but refuse to carry a KT with a round chambered.... but then again, I met a gun smith/ffl last week at a cook-out that was showing off his brand new T...Tau......Taurus (pppffffftttt) 1911 in a very nice leather shoulder rig.... hammer down on empty an chamber.

So many options, so many opinions.

"Hold on a second, Mr. Attacker, let me rack the slide on my gun before you continue your assault..."

Not so much... Get a holster, put one in the chamber. The clipdraw may help with your retention, but I'd still prefer a good holster.

Unloaded guns, (empty chambered ones are unloaded), especially the lightweight kel-tecs, are little better than poorly designed rocks IMO.

Surv, I hope your buddy had a loaded gun somewhere else on him lol.

I too prefer a holster, but I would still carry with a chambered round if I were using a Clipdraw or similar. For me, the risk of an empty chamber outweighs the risk of a loaded one.

Totally agree on ALWAYS having a round chambered. For that reason I don't think the belt clip is a very good thing to have. I have a small IWB as well as a pocket holster. Both cover the trigger when carried and preclude an "accidental" discharge from random trigger contact (if it can go wrong, EVENTUALLY it WILL GO WRONG!).

The small IWB hides the gun almost as well as a clip would and saves worrying about sweat as much too.

    JMHO, YMMV :P

    12+1 in my P-11

One in the chamber, or else it is a very short club or complex paperweight, neither of which is good for a SHTF situation....

Well! I guess this is a new hurtle for me, I feel safer now that I carry but am a little leery about carrying chambered. I always make it a point to be very aware of whats going on and the people around me when in public and feel I could react in time. after seeing this thread I'm going to revisit and think hard about it.
One nice thing about the PF9 is it has a long trigger pull!!!
