Solved the Assembly Pin Insertion "Issue"

Have a brand new PF9, put 100 rounds through it the other day with no problems. After cleaning, I could not get the assembly pin to snap into place.
After two days of reviewing KTOG posts, and watching the videos, I figured out an easy way to solve the frequently noted assembly pin insertion issue. Making sure the hole was cleared for the complete insertion, and inserting the pin, I took my very small Buck Deuce pocketknife, and using the smaller blade, used the tip to push down on the mag pin...the silver wire under the hole.....and while the wire was pushed down, the pin snapped easily into place. I know the directions say to push down on the barrel while pushing the slide back to lock open, but that didn't work either. So I'll use my little knife blade from now on. P.S. Also have a 3AT that's been my main front pocket carry gun that has had no "issues"at all. -cw

Wow! First post and it contains a tip on assembling the sometimes obstinate PF-9. I think you are going to fit right in here.

    Welcome!

I had the same problem with my PF-9 but I used brute force. Get the pin started, lay the gun (pin down) on the reloading bench and hammer away with my fist until the pin snaped into place. I knew there must be a better way and if the gun hadn't already had to go to Fla. for other problems (mine isn't exactly what you'd call flawless), I would have adopted your method. - DCS

Browndog...dude...maybe we should call you Brutedog. LOL Glad to hear the KTs can take a lickin' and hopefully keep on tickin'. I was at that point, too. I even called the KT customer service dept.....still waiting for the call back. Ha! -cw

When I first started looking seriously at buying a Kel Tec, I was looking at a P-11. The guy at the LGS did the basic disassembly to show me how "easy" it was to do. He had a heck of a time putting it back together tho and that definitely factored in to my decision to get a PF-9 intead. I have yet to have problems with disassembly OR reassembly. I did find that pushing down on the barrel while moving the slide to the rear allowed the frame holes and the notch in the barrel to line up nicely the the assembly pin went right in. TG

Aha!! Thank you, so much, OP!!!! I just got this gun today, and was pulling my hair out trying to get the assemble pin to seat. You mentioned the wire under the pin, and thats all I needed!!! Thanks, again!!
