Is it possible to remove the barrel from the receiver, I do not see the concept of how the barrel retainer and the compact forend nut hold the barrel in place.
That is a good question. The nut in front of the compact forend threads onto some threading on the barrel itself. I don't know that the barrel can be removed from the upper receiver, but I am not really the guy to ask on this one.
