    Well, this sucks!

I finally have the money for a PLR-16, or so I thought. Carol told me that for my birthday, I could go ahead and get it with the overtime money that was coming from my last stint on standby. So I called around a couple of weeks ago, and found 1 each at three local fun shops.

    1 was $475, 1 was $479, and 1 was $500 even out the door.

I called this morning to see if the shop that had it for $475 still had it, and the response was "Yes". I told her that I was on my way, and would be there in 20 to 30 minutes.

When I got there, I told the lady behind the counter that I was the one who called about the PLR-16. She pulled it out of the counter and handed it to me. As I was looking it over, I noticed that the tag on the trigger guard said $699.00. I asked if that was the price, and she confirmed that it was. This was a basic PLR-16 with one 10 round magazine, nothing more, and they were asking for more than $30 over MSRP.

I told her that I had been quoted $475 just two weeks ago, and she simply said "supply and demand". I noticed that all of their Kel-Tecs were up over $100.00 more than they were the last time I was in there. She said that no one in town has gotten anything from them in about 2 months, and that they had the largest stock of them in town, which wasn't saying much. They had 4 P-3AT's, 2 PF-9's, 2 P-11's, and 1 PLR-16.

Disgusted, I went back home and called around again. No one else in town has a PLR-16 in stock, and when I asked how long it might take to get one, most of them told me the same thing about Kel-Tec not shipping anything for the past few months, and that they couldn't tell me when they might get one.

Beyond my obvious disappointment, I am beginning to wonder what might be wrong at my favorite firearms manufacturer.

I think they are busy getting PMR30's out right now. It's BS dealers mark stuff up like that. I make it a policy not to do business with people like that!

I don't care if when things return to normal if they are selling them for $100, throwing in a case of ammo, and having it all delivered to my house by a Leprechaun on a Unicorn. I will never buy anything from that place again.

Had she said it was that the rent had gone up, or insurance is costing more, or something else along those lines, I could understand; but to just say "supply and demand" pisses me off.

sounds like notcheaper than dirt and their stupid advertisement during the (self induced by firearms enthusiasts) ammunition shortage for the single box of blazer aluminum .380 ammo at over 60 bucks. Yeah, bullshit like that causes me to NEVER do business with shisters like that. But, then again, I have been to a couple of Bass stores...never spent a dime there either.

Www.sportsmansguide.com is about 10% cheaper than that other shyster place you mention. They also have better shipping rates as the other used fed up.

I would have told the lady her extra 100 bucks just cost her any and all business she could have had in the future with me and I will never recommend the place to anyone AND I'm telling all my friends they're a POS. Am I too harsh?

Back before the great ammo drought when I was stocking up, these guys were great. They had the best prices for .45 ACP Speer Lawman and some of the 185 grain Federal JHP, classic I believe. And, the club discount really was useful. They used to send extra coupons with every order.

Admittedly, I haven't bought anything for probably a couple of years, but unless they have changed, they rock!

And . . . Hey, Magman! Check out this Gunbroker auction new in the box for a $475.00 buy it now price with a 30 round magazine. Shipping seems reasonable too.

Yeah, I checked Gunbroker and Auction Arms. The main problem with them is that all the dealers around here want at least $50.00 to accept the package, watch me fill out the forms, and call NICS.

There is a Fun Show on the 5th and 6th of March at the FL State Fairgrounds. I'll probably be able to pick one up there.
