I am considering the PLR 16, a few questions:
- just how dang loud is it, really?
- is the optional forend hard to put on?
- how does it handle the recoil?
- my SU16B heats up like you would not believe, how is this one?

I haven't had mine to the range yet, and have only fired 3 rounds out of it, but can answer a couple of questions.
It is very loud. At least as loud as my Super Blackhawk .44 Mag, but a sharper, higher pitched report.
The recoil isn't bad at all. Even without a muzzle break, it felt about like shooting +P .38's in a 4" .357.
I haven't installed one, but it looks as though the fore end just slips into place and then the nut is tightened up against it.
Self defense is not a part-time job!
Shooting is one of the great joys in life. Pass it on.

I believe the forend should be the same to install as the PLR22, you pull back gas chamber tube and it the top half slips under that and then the bottom half slips under and it kinda snaps together and tightens on the end with the nut. Since getting mine installed I found this one which is a a 3 rail and made of aluminum that I'm thinking of getting now, but its a bit pricey -> http://www.redlionprecision.com
It's very loud
Fore-end is super easy to install
It handles recoil well but you have a nice muzzle flash
It does get warm
The next gun is NEVER the last one!
