Thats due to more than just LOS, out in the desert where humidity is low there is going to be a lot less drag than in a jungle where humidity is ~100%.

You can shoot at anything you can see, doesn't mean you are going to hit it. The shorter the barrel the more practice you need to hit anything at any range. I've seen people miss a man sized target at less than 8 feet with a stubbed nose revolver. Personal experience is most people do an incredibly poor job at range estimation so the sighting equipment on the gun, POI that the gun and load are dialed in for, trigger control, steady rest for the gun and jitters/shakes/mental and emotional state have more to do with hitting your intended target than gravitational spin, altitude above sea level, barometric pressure, humidity, curvature of the earth, gravity, etc. The PLR is a hand gun. If you are shooting it off hand then your range starts shrinking rapidly. Try this to determine "your" effective range. Take a plain 9" paper plate with no markings and tack it up, pace off 25 yards and fire 10 rounds. Count the number of hits inside the pie plate. If it's less than 9 move 5 steps closer and repeat. If it's 9 or more than move back 10 more yards and repeat. When you find the distance where you CAN NOT keep 90% of your shots in the kill zone move back to where you could and you have "your" effective range. I'm betting it's going to be a whole lot shorter than you think. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I turned my PLR-16 into a SBR (did the ATF paperwork and got the stamp first) by adding a butt stock and can easily hit clay pigeons placed against a backstop at 100 yards. FWIW, the stock is a MAJOR help in aiming and keeping the gun steady, which adds to it's accuracy. If you are thinking of using the PLR as a home/property defense weapon, range shouldn't be a major concern. I don't know of many houses that are 100 yds long, especially in an urban setting, and the PLR shouldn't have any problems hitting a COM sized target at that range.
