    why no handguard on foreend?

I looked at a PLR16 at my local gun store yesterday and I have to admit I don't really understand why KT doesn't just go ahead and put the upgraded handguard on it to begin with. I have a SU16B rifle and love it, but the barrel/piston tube get real hot real quick. The PLR16 pretty much has nothing in place at all to prevent you from accidentially touching either and that ought to be a fairly memorable experience. I understand of course that said open design will no doubt allow it to cool down more quickly but even so...

I think they do that for simplicity in design, and weight minimization... I kinda like the skeletal look of it myself

    +1!

Why include something as part of a package deal at a cheaper price when you can charge more selling it separately. However, I'd be willing to pay a bit more up front for the gun if it were a factory installed option vs. factory manufactured aftermarket option.

Which is why it may be better to offer it on the gun in the first place - more people might buy it because it increases the appeal.
