    State of Michigan

I was surprised that no one had pulled this info or posted this link before, but here is the State of Michigan document in a nice downloadable PDF format that you can use for guidance when dealing with Michigan and gun laws.

This looks like it is updated and published each year as part of the CCW laws. It should include any and all updates to laws and is pretty comprehensive. Feel free to make this sticky.

Looks like it will have to be pasted into your browser. Not sure how to make it an active link. Please edit or provide the how and I'll make the changes.

Well, I'm at page 22 of the 280 pages. Nothing real exciting at this point. Mostly information on the establishment of the CCW system, the timelines and conditions for being issued/denied the permit, and how to go about appealing.

I plan on reading through this entire document, so I will post updates or notes of things that I find interesting or questionable. Besides it cures the insomnia.

So, I'm now about 70 pages in and have discovered that this document is very comprehensive. If there is a CCW facet of a law or set of laws, the content and relation of the CCW to the law is spelled out and makes it pretty clear what the rules and penalties are as related to the set of laws.

The first 30 pages or so (maybe a few more) are all related to who can buy and sell; the processes for purchasing; the application and appeals processes if you are denied; reasons for denial and revocation of your permit; renewal process; transportation laws and definitions of locations where you can legally carry your weapon.

It then goes into some of the recipricocity rules between states. After that it talks to and about retired LEO's and their requirements. I am now into the portion related to Hunting and the associated laws.

Once, I'm done reading this (God only knows when that will be), I will try to put together a small 'cliff notes' version for quick reference. Yes, the TOC is there, but if you want something specific, I can probably give you a better shortcut than the the TOC.

Wish me luck. I'm still awake
